Portraits Minéraux

It all begins with rock: strata, oxides, fractures, shards of quartz photographed from very close. Seen this way, matter stops being a landscape and becomes a portrait — a gaze, a mouth, a symmetry.

The images are then mirrored and printed on silk. Each square is finished with a hem rolled entirely by hand, and closes on the G·J·vS signature.

Portraits Minéraux exists in three formats: 50, 70 and 90 centimetres. The same motif changes nature with scale — a jewel at the wrist, a square at the neck, or a piece to be framed.
