Manifesto

A meeting of gesture, matter and object. For this edition, Maison GJVS carries Gert-Jan van Sonsbeek's photographic eye beyond the frame. Patterns emerge from stone, oxide and light, then settle onto silk. A collection conceived as an exhibition you can carry with you.

The artist

Gert-Jan van Sonsbeek

Garment designer and photographerBruxelles

A dreamer, I am driven by a passion for clothing and for image, which I express as much through the cut of my pieces as through photography. His photographs of minerals and blooms, enlarged to the point of abstraction, become the patterns of the Maison's squares and stoles.

“In a world of mass production, I want to offer originality and beauty. Every piece is made with care.”

Savoir-faire

Matter before object

Each piece is edited on silk — 100% silk for the squares, 70% cotton and 30% silk for the 118 × 178 cm stole. Dimensions and compositions come from the Maison's edition list.

Printing, finishing and place of manufacture — details to be confirmed. No process is described here before confirmation by the workshop.
